J-Term!
I've spent the last four days cramming seven textbook chapters of general psychology in my head. J-Term has been a really interesting experience and I'm really glad I decide to take psych because I finally have something to do. Last winter break was really weird for me because although I was glad to be home, I hadn't spent more than a couple of days away from my best friends at school since I met them. Because living on the honors floor was such an intense experience, being home with none of my peers was so different and I didn't enjoy it as much as I could or should have. I also had nothing to do and all in all was really fed up during most of break. So I knew that I needed to change that this winter and I also really wanted to get a Gen Ed out of the way so I didn't have to take more than 15 credits any semester.
So yeah, I decided on psychology as my J-Term class because I have been wanting to take psychology for a couple years now. My mom didn't think it was a good idea my senior year of high school and every semester so far, other things have fit better into my schedule. So yeah, this is the first chance I had to take it. The format of the class (3.75 hours a day for 10 days) makes the workload kind of intense, but yeah, I'm really enjoying myself. Call me a nerd but I love to learn and I'm so glad that I could take time this winter break to learn about a subject I knew basically nothing about. It's so cool to learn about the mind, and I even survived the crash course in biology that we had Wednesday!
Break has been really great so far. I've been far more appreciative of the time off and being able to be around my family. You know, when I'm at school, I forget how special my family is and how much I love our conversations at dinner and all the time. They just understand me (and unfortunately how to annoy me) in a way that nobody else can, and I'm really thankful for that. I've also been able to catch up with some of my best friends from home, which has been really fantastic because we all have been doing really cool stuff since we graduated. I've also spent a ton of time with my third sister Rachel (She said she would check my blog so HI RACH!) and her family, which is awesome because her little sisters are growing up so quickly! I still miss my friends at school, but we have plans to get together over break and I know that a month apart is far from the end of the world.
Anyway, it's late and I've got to go to 8am Mass tomorrow (yikes!).
Until next time,
Emily
