Spring Break
Wow. Spring break has really flown by. It's hard to believe that I've already been home for a week and will be going back to campus in less than 48 hours. It's a bit distressing, as I haven't done nearly enough studying for my two exams early next week. I'm having a really hard time caring about them though. Maybe it's being on break, maybe it's that the exams I had before break (only two thankfully) went decently well (although graph theory was a bit of a mess at first, but that's a story for another time), but I not super stressed out about it currently. That could change, especially before my 302 exam on Tuesday, but right now I'm trying to work up the motivation to study and hoping that once I get back to school it will be easy to hit the ground running.
As for the rest of break, it's been pretty relaxing and enjoyable. Being around my family is always nice, although my siblings are so busy nowadays that we haven't been able to do that much. I was able to go to County History Day last weekend though and I was really grateful for that. NHD was a huge part of my high school experience and I know that it holds similar importance for Abby and Kelly, and so I was really excited to be able to support them, even if it was just the county level, which is usually more of a warm-up than an actual competition for most of our groups. Kelly and her group nailed their performance about Tony Mendes, a CIA agent involved in the mission that inspired the movie Argo, and seemed really eager to improve it for the state competition in late April (in fact, they were quite annoyed that the judges had nothing negative to say about it). I still haven't gotten a chance to see Abby's group's documentary on the Prague Spring yet, but based on previous documentaries that she has produced, I'm sure it is excellent. I'm really excited that the state competition is at my university, because I will be able to support them again.
In other news, I convinced my mom to go down to D.C. today. We went to the Hirshorn Museum and then walked around the mall for a bit. It was really nice and the one thing I wanted to do this break. The day started out rainy but then got a lot nicer and although parking was an adventure, we managed to get in and out of the city without getting lost. I might post some pictures from the trip on my instagram, and I'll probably link it here later if I do (Edit: https://www.instagram.com/p/BSC8PmRgxHT/) . I also got a chance to visit my grandparents this week and although my grandmother is getting more and more forgetful, she is an absolute joy to be around. I also started watching some Disney movies I hadn't seen in years and my mom got me more from the library so I don't expect that to end anytime soon.
Oh...I almost forgot! I found out this week that I have an internship for this summer! I'm going to be back at NIST and working on a project completely different than what I did last summer. I'm really excited and am looking forward to the opportunity.
Anyway, I didn't mean this to be this long...I guess these things happen sometimes though! I'm looking forward to being done my first round of exams on Tuesday and then hopefully I can finally not be studying every moment I have (or at least feeling like I should be studying)!
Until next time.
